Foreign Trade Blue T-Shirt Review: A $5.97 Loose Drop-Shoulder Cotton Crewneck

We ordered the $5.97 Foreign Trade blue tee, measured it flat, wore it for a week and washed it twice at 30°C. Here is what 200g cotton does in a loose drop-shoulder cut.

Priya Raghavan is the site's Reviews Editor, maintaining its fit table and writing the size-conversion guides readers consult before ordering. Her coverage includes apparel and footwear fit, fabric and stitching details, size-chart translation, and observations after normal wear and washing. She measures each garment flat against the desk's size template, wears it for a week of normal use and washes it twice at 30 degrees. Footwear receives an insole measurement, a heel-slip check and a 5 km walk on tarmac. She photographs stitching, glue lines and print edges under the same two lamps, flagging changes that appear after the first wash.

Foreign Trade Blue T-Shirt Review: A $5.97 Loose Drop-Shoulder Cotton Crewneck

Hands-on score 4.0 / 5

Editor verdict

A $5.97 loose drop-shoulder cotton tee with a clean chest print and a wash-stable 200g body, held back only by a listing that publishes no flat measurements and no item-specific buyer feedback.

What works

  • 200g cotton with a dry, breathable hand and a straight hang
  • Chest print held its edges and colour through two 30°C washes
  • Loose drop-shoulder cut and a size run that reaches 3XL

Watch-outs

  • No published flat measurements; sizing rests on overlapping weight bands
  • A stated 3 cm tolerance means a reordered size can land differently
  • No feedback on this exact tee; the shrinkage source is category-level

Anyone after a cheap, roomy cotton crewneck for daily spring and summer wear who is happy to confirm chest and length figures with the seller before checkout.

Shoppers who want a fitted silhouette, need published flat measurements, or will only buy a tee carrying independent buyer feedback on the exact colourway and size.

Foreign Trade is one of those low-cost labels that circulates through agent catalogs under a string of similar names, and this blue crewneck is a fair sample of what that tier looks like in hand. We ordered the blue 3460 short-sleeve colourway in size L at $5.97, down from a $6.79 list price, and ran it through the desk's standard garment routine: flat measurement against the size template, one week of normal wear, and two washes at 30°C.

The short version is that this is a heavier, better-cut tee than the price suggests, with one real gap in the listing rather than in the garment.

What landed, and what we measured

The parcel arrived without crush damage. The tee itself is a pullover with a crew neck, short dropped-set sleeves and a geometric letter print across the chest, cut loose through the body rather than boxy oversize. The fabric has a dry, slightly matte hand and reads as a mid-weight jersey rather than the papery 160g cotton common at this price.

Those figures are from one sample. The listing quotes a 3 cm tolerance and publishes no measurement chart, so treat our numbers as an indication of what size L tends to be, not as a specification you can hold a seller to.

Print, collar and stitching under the lamps

Everything photographed here was shot under the same two lamps we use for every garment, so the colour below is what the blue actually looks like under our setup rather than under a storefront light.

The chest print

The geometric letter graphic sits across the upper chest at a modest scale. Edges are clean with no visible haloing or bleed into the blue, and the ink layer is thin enough that the fabric still moves with the print rather than sitting stiffly over it. After two washes the print showed no lifting, cracking or dulling.

Collar and seams

The collar rib is on the thin side, which is normal at this weight and price. It held its shape through both washes and did not wave or furrow. Hems are a straightforward single-fold stitch, shoulders are double-stitched, and side seams sit straight with no puckering. There were no loose threads worth trimming and no glue or fused edges anywhere on the garment.

Two washes at 30°C

We washed the tee twice at 30°C and line-dried it both times. Length moved by less than a centimetre across the two cycles, the blue did not bleed into the white load, and the loose cut did not collapse into the body. What we cannot tell you is how the fabric behaves under heat, because we did not put it in a dryer.

The only sourced buyer discussion we found on this tier of cotton is category-level rather than specific to this tee, and it makes the same point:

"Garments that are 100% cotton will shrink, but high heat makes them shrink more." — r/malefashionadvice discussion on 100% cotton T-shirts

That thread is about cotton generally, not about this exact item, so we treat it as a caution rather than a finding. Cold wash and air dry is the conservative routine, and it is what we would keep doing with the five colourways the listing describes as pure cotton.

Choosing a size without a measurement chart

Foreign Trade quotes sizes as body-weight bands in jin rather than flat centimetres. One jin is roughly 0.5 kg, which puts the run here:

SizeStated body weightApproximate in kilograms
S90–115 jin45–58 kg
M110–130 jin55–65 kg
L125–150 jin63–75 kg
XL140–170 jin70–85 kg
2XL170–195 jin85–98 kg
3XL190–215 jin95–108 kg

The bands overlap by 10–20 jin at every step, which means two people of the same weight can be correctly told to buy different sizes. Because the pattern is loose with dropped shoulders, sizing down is the more forgiving error if you want a normal fit rather than a roomy one. Before checkout, ask the seller for flat chest and length figures in centimetres for the size you intend to buy.

How it wears in a streetwear rotation

We wore the tee for a week of ordinary use: under an open overshirt, with denim, and on its own with shorts. The dropped shoulder keeps the shoulder line relaxed without swallowing the arms, and the 200g body hangs straight rather than clinging. The chest print stays legible when the tee is worn open over another layer, which is the one thing a graphic at this scale has to get right.

What we could not verify

  • There is no independent buyer feedback on this exact tee. The shrinkage discussion we sourced is about 100% cotton T-shirts as a category.
  • The listing names five colourways as 100% cotton but does not state a composition for the pure white short-sleeve option, so confirm that one with the seller if it matters to you.
  • The agent listing carries a shipping weight of 0.00, which is a placeholder rather than a real figure. Do not use it to estimate parcel cost.

How we tested

Priya Raghavan measured the size L blue sample flat against the size template, wore it for one week of normal use and washed it twice at 30°C. Stitching, print edges and the collar seam were photographed under the desk's two lamps before and after the first wash.

Sources and notes

How should I choose a size on this tee?

The listing gives body-weight bands in jin (1 jin ≈ 0.5 kg) rather than flat measurements, with a stated 3 cm tolerance. Because the bands overlap, ask the seller for flat chest and length figures in centimetres for your intended size before checkout.

Is every colourway made of 100% cotton?

Five colourways — white, black, coffee, blue and dark grey — are listed as 100% cotton. The pure white short-sleeve option carries no stated composition in the catalog, so confirm that one with the seller if it matters to you.

Will it shrink in the wash?

Our sample moved less than a centimetre in length over two 30°C washes and line drying. The only sourced buyer discussion is category-level about 100% cotton and heat, so cold washing and air drying remain the conservative routine.

Copped this in blue after seeing the flat measurements. 200g is honestly more than I expected for $5.97, feels like a real tee not tissue paper. Drop shoulder sits right on me at 5'10" 160lbs, size L. Washed twice at 30 and no shrink, no twisting at the hem. Only knock is the collar got a little wavy after the second wash, but for under six bucks I'm not mad.
