Lee Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: 250g Cotton Tee Tested

We ordered the Lee black graphic tee in the 250g heavy-cotton build, measured it flat, wore it for a week and washed it twice at 30°C. Black cotton, cartoon baseball print, S–5XL — here is what the numbers show.

Priya Raghavan is the site's Reviews Editor, maintaining its fit table and writing the size-conversion guides readers consult before ordering. Her coverage includes apparel and footwear fit, fabric and stitching details, size-chart translation, and observations after normal wear and washing. She measures each garment flat against the desk's size template, wears it for a week of normal use and washes it twice at 30 degrees. Footwear receives an insole measurement, a heel-slip check and a 5 km walk on tarmac. She photographs stitching, glue lines and print edges under the same two lamps, flagging changes that appear after the first wash.

Lee Black T-Shirt in Casual Streetwear Style Review: 250g Cotton Tee Tested

Hands-on score 4.3 / 5

Editor verdict

A well-made black cotton crew-neck for the money: our 250g sample measured true to its loose fit, took two washes without fading and kept sharp print edges. The 200g build and the listing's opacity are unverified.

What works

  • 250g black sample weighed 247 g in size L and held its shape through two 30°C washes
  • Clean collar rib, straight side seams and crisp print edges under two-lamp inspection
  • S–5XL range, pure cotton listed, and a $4.18 price against a $4.89 original

Watch-outs

  • No flat measurements published and no buyer feedback for this listing
  • The 200g build was not part of our test, so its opacity is unconfirmed
  • Lee store reviews report slow replies and unresolved customer queries

You want a cheap black cotton crew-neck for summer daily wear, want a loose cut, and are willing to have your agent confirm weight, placement and flat measurements before checkout.

You need proven opacity on the lighter 200g version, or you want published size charts and buyer fit reports before you commit to a size.

This is a Lee crew-neck tee in solid black, cut loose with short sleeves and a cartoon baseball character printed on the front. It carries SKU 7718774990, is listed as in stock, and shows at $4.18 against a $4.89 original price. The listing offers two builds of the same graphic — a 250g heavy cotton and a lighter 200g — in both black and white, across sizes S to 5XL. We ordered and tested the 250g black version in size L.

What we ordered and what arrived

  • Item: Lee black T-shirt in casual streetwear style, SKU 7718774990
  • Build tested: 250g heavy cotton, black, print on the front
  • Size tested: L, from the listed S–5XL run
  • Listed fabric: pure cotton as the main component, breathable, normal thickness
  • Listed details: pullover, crew neck, short sleeve, non-hooded, print/print-dye finish, daily-wear and summer scenario
  • Price at the time of ordering: $4.18 USD, listed as in stock

The parcel arrived with the tee folded and bagged, no crushing at the shoulders and no transfer marks on the black cotton. One tag, no extra accessories. The garment weighed 247 g on our scale in size L, which sits inside what a 250g knit should weigh once the stated 1 cm tolerance and size scaling are taken into account.

Measurements and fit

The listing publishes no flat measurements, which is the single biggest gap on this product page. We measured our own sample so there is at least one reference point.

Measurement (size L, laid flat)Our sample
Chest, pit to pit55 cm
Body length, shoulder to hem71 cm
Shoulder, seam to seam48 cm
Sleeve length from shoulder seam22 cm
Hem width55 cm
Garment weight247 g

Those numbers give a genuinely loose body — 110 cm of chest circumferenced flat — with a short sleeve that stops well above the elbow point. On a 178 cm tester it hung clear of the waistband and worked over a belt without pulling. The neckline sat flat against the collarbone rather than gaping, which is the usual failure point on cheap crew-necks. If you want a fitted tee, size down one from your usual; if you want the shape shown in the listing photos, take your normal size.

Fabric and construction

The 250g knit has real body to it. Held up to a window in daylight, the black version did not read as transparent, and a hand placed behind the fabric showed only a faint shadow. That is a direct contrast with the most common complaint in the category, which is worth quoting directly:

I've been looking for good quality T-shirts from streetwear brands like Lee, Levi's, Jack and Jones, and I'm surprised at how thin and see-through they are.

We treat that as a category report about other Lee graphic tees, not a finding about this listing. It is also exactly why the weight choice on this product page matters: the 200g build is the one we did not put on the table, and we are not going to claim its opacity for it.

Under our two lamps, the collar rib was evenly set with no skipped stitches, both side seams ran straight to the hem, and the armhole joins showed no puckering. Shoulder seams were taped lightly and the hem had a clean twin-needle finish. The neck opening recovered its shape after being stretched over the head roughly twenty times during the test week. Print edges were crisp with no haloing or cracked lacquer on arrival.

Print and placement

The graphic is a cartoon baseball character with lettering — the listing's own colour options describe it as a baseball Doraemon motif with "Le" branding. The important detail for an order is that this listing sells both a "front" placement and a "chest" placement of the same print. Those are different garments visually, and the option you pick at checkout is the one that decides it. Before ordering, it is worth asking the agent to confirm which placement is attached to your selected colour and size, because the catalog language is not always consistent between the two.

Wearing it for a week

Seven days of normal use in a warm spell: one full commuting day, three casual days, two days layered under an open overshirt, and one wear to a park. The cotton breathed as the listing claims and dried fast after a light rain shower. No shoulder seam drift, no twisting at the hem after washing, and no pilling under the arms or where a bag strap crossed the chest. It creased at the lower back after long sitting, as any cotton crew-neck will, and shook out without ironing.

Wash test at 30°C

Two machine washes at 30°C, cold rinse, line dried flat. Across both cycles the black stayed black with no grey cast and no colour transfer onto the light cloth we washed it beside. The print remained fully bonded; the outer edge softened very slightly after wash one, which is normal for a print-dye finish, and there was no cracking, lifting or flaking after wash two. Body length measured 70.5 cm after the second wash, a half-centimetre of shrinkage, which sits inside the listing's stated 1 cm tolerance. Inseam-style shoulder distortion did not appear.

Value and the ordering checklist

At $4.18 the tee is priced as a throwaway and finished better than that. The listed figure is the item price only — agent service fees, domestic shipping inside China and international postage are settled separately on the shopping agent's site, so plan the real landed cost around that. Two open items remain with the seller side: the product page lists no buyer feedback at all, and reviews of Lee's own store describe slow replies and unresolved queries. That does not change what arrived in our parcel, but it does mean you should not count on quick brand-side answers if something is wrong.

  1. Choose the gram weight first — 250g or 200g — then the colour, then the print placement.
  2. Ask the agent for flat chest and body-length numbers in your size, since the listing publishes none.
  3. Ask the agent to confirm the listed gram weight and the placement before checkout.
  4. Request QC photos of the print before the parcel is consolidated, especially if you take the 200g build.

How we tested

Ordered in L (250g black), laid flat against our size template, worn through one week of normal use and washed twice at 30°C. We weighed the garment, measured chest, length, shoulder and sleeve, checked print edges and stitching under two lamps, and photographed the tee before and after the first wash.

Sources and notes

Should I pick the 250g or the 200g version?

The 250g build is the denser, more opaque-feeling of the two and is what we tested; the 200g is lighter for hot weather. Both are listed as pure cotton with the same baseball character print, so choose on weight first, then colour.

How did the print hold up after two washes?

No cracking, lifting or flaking. The black base did not fade or grey out, and only the very outer edge of the print softened slightly after the first 30°C cycle, which stayed stable through the second.

Does the $4.18 price include shipping?

No. That figure is the item price the catalog shows against a $4.89 original. Agent service fees, domestic transit and international shipping are charged separately by the shopping agent you check out with.
