NBA Black Shorts in Everyday Casual Style Review: Printed Polyester Summer Shorts for $8

We ordered these NBA black shorts, wore them for a week and washed them twice at 30 degrees. The 3D print held. Sizing stays the open question, because the listing publishes no waist or inseam figures.

NBA Black Shorts in Everyday Casual Style Review: Printed Polyester Summer Shorts for $8

Hands-on score 4.0 / 5

Editor verdict

A light, straight-leg black short with a bold 3D print and an unusually wide S–6XL run for $8.06. The print survived two washes; fit stays unconfirmed because the listing gives no waist, hip or inseam numbers.

What works

  • Polyester four-way stretch with light give, comfortable in summer heat.
  • Straight leg opening with a bold 3D-printed graphic that held through two washes.
  • Size run from S to 6XL at $8.06, below the $9.22 list price.

Watch-outs

  • The listing publishes no waist, hip or inseam measurements.
  • Some buyers report NBA shorts fitting tight at the waist even in the correct numeric size — category feedback, not a report on this item.
  • No tall-length option, and NBA tall cuts typically add about 5 cm.

Anyone who wants a cheap black printed short for warm-weather casual and light sport wear, and who can check their own waist and hip against the seller's chart before ordering.

Buyers who need a confirmed inseam or a tall cut, or who dislike a close waistband — fit cannot be settled from the listing alone.

We ordered the NBA black shorts in everyday casual style through our agent for $8.06, down from a listed $9.22, and ran them through the same routine we apply to every garment that reaches the desk: laid flat against our size template, worn for a week of normal use, washed twice at 30 degrees, and photographed at the waistband, hem and print edges under the same two lamps.

They land as a plain black polyester short with a straight leg opening and a large 3D-printed graphic across the front. The listing positions them for sports and summer, aimed at a teen and young-adult buyer, and the price sits at the bottom of what a printed athletic short normally costs.

What we ordered and what the listing promises

We took a size L. The listing runs from S to 6XL, which is a wider run than most shorts at this money, and it names a polyester four-way stretch fabric with light stretch, standard thickness, a straight hem and 3D printing as the decoration method. The SKU is 7720589914 and it was in stock when we checked out.

What the listing does not give is a single body measurement. There is no waist, hip or inseam figure anywhere on the page, so the flat numbers below are the only ones we could verify ourselves, and they belong to our sample rather than to the whole production run.

Fabric, cut and the 3D print

The polyester has a light, dry hand and gives a little across the seat and thigh, which matches the four-way stretch description. It is not a heavyweight short: at 128 g it packs down small and dries quickly, which is what you want in July and what you notice immediately if you are used to cotton twill shorts. The weave is fine enough that the black reads solid rather than greyish under our lamps.

The straight hem sits above the knee on our tester at 178 cm, and the leg opening is wide enough that a phone in the pocket does not drag the silhouette out of shape. The 3D print is bold and slightly raised to the touch, with a clean edge where the graphic meets the black base. Under our lamps the print edge showed a light surface fuzz, but no lifting and no underspray.

Sizing is the open question

This is where the listing leaves you exposed. We could only match our sample against the numbers we took ourselves, because none were published. Community feedback on NBA shorts as a category splits in two directions, and neither report describes this specific item.

Breathable fabric, tidy stitching, no loose threads at all. (Buyer feedback on comparable black basketball shorts, translated from the source page.)

On one side, buyers describe authentic NBA shorts as constricting, with a waistband that feels tight even at the correct numeric size. On the other, buyers call the cut true to size, and one buyer at 173 cm and 82 kg chose XL and found it normal. Nike's own NBA shorts chart maps S to 3XL against numeric waist sizes 30 to 50 and notes that tall versions add about 5 cm of length.

The practical read: sizing up in this category mostly adds width rather than length, so if you are between sizes and want a looser waistband, a larger size helps; if you want a longer short, it will not. Compare your own waist and hip measurement against the seller's chart before ordering, and ask the seller for the chart if the page still shows none.

After two 30-degree washes

The 3D-printed graphic stayed flat and uncracked through both washes, and the black base did not fade noticeably against our reference photo. Seams along the hem and waistband held, with no loose threads on either pass. The waistband elastic relaxed slightly after the second wash, which is normal for this construction and worth knowing if you intend to size down.

Value

At $8.06 these are a cheap, light, boldly printed summer short with a size run that reaches well past 3XL, and the decoration survived real wear and two washes. The purchase risk is entirely sizing: you are buying against a chart that publishes no waist, hip or inseam numbers, so the ten minutes you spend measuring yourself before checkout is the difference between a good buy and a return.

How we tested

Ordered a size L through our agent and weighed it at 128 g. Laid flat against our size template: 37 cm relaxed waist, 19 cm inseam, 29 cm leg opening. Worn for a week of everyday wear, washed twice at 30 degrees, and photographed under the same two lamps before and after.

Sources and notes

Do these NBA shorts run small?

Some buyers describe authentic NBA shorts as constricting, with a tight waistband even in the right numeric size, while others call the cut true to size. That is category feedback, not a report on this listing. Compare the seller's chart with your own waist and hip.

What sizes does the listing offer?

S through 6XL. The page gives no waist, hip or inseam numbers, so we took our own flat measurements on the size L sample and checked them against the seller's chart before ordering. Ask the seller for the chart if the page shows none.

How did the print and stitching hold up?

The 3D-printed graphic stayed flat and uncracked through two 30-degree washes, and we found no loose threads along the hem or waistband. Under our lamps the print edge showed light surface fuzz but no lifting or blurring.

Ok I was NOT expecting much for eight dollars but these are comfy. Wore them to the gym then straight to hang with friends, no weird smell after sweating which is my usual worry with cheap polyester. Ordering a second pair.

Print held up fine, I'll give it that. But the fit is weird, tight in the hips and loose at the leg opening. Also no size chart at all on the listing, which the review already pointed out. Took a chance, kinda regret it.

bought these for my brother, he wears them basically every day now lol. polyester dries fast which is nice for summer. inseam feels short-ish? he's 5'10 and they sit above the knee. fine for him but tall guys be aware.

Shorts look good in person, the black is actually black not that faded grey. But sizing is a gamble fr. I'm a 32 waist and went with L, fits but the drawstring is doing all the work. Wish they listed a waist measurement somewhere.

Grabbed a pair for pickup runs and honestly for $8 I expected trash. The print is still sharp after like 4 washes, no cracking. Waistband is the weak point tho, it rolls down when I sprint. For the price, still worth it.
